The Murano Trilogy

Jack Murano was trained to save lives. No one prepared him to heal his own.

The Murano Trilogy traces the journey of Jack Murano across three unforgettable novels about family, fallibility, and forgiveness.

What comes of a cardiac surgeon who leaves his heart on the operating table?

Dr. Jack Murano is respected, accomplished, and alone. After decades of making life-and-death decisions in the OR, he’s forced to confront the quieter failures that built up at home — a strained marriage, distant children, and the version of himself he’s spent years avoiding.

The Murano Trilogy follows Dr. Murano through the unraveling and reassembly of a life that looked perfect from the outside. Set against a high-stakes, medical backdrop and driven by deeper personal reckonings, this is a story about what we carry with us, what we pass on, and the quiet work of leading a life so that your parting moments are filled with gratitude, not sorrow.

In short, bingeworthy chapters, the stories are packed with the clarity and emotional depth of a man who has lived it all himself.

What readers are saying

“Thrilling medical mystery”

This page-turner had me on the edge of my seating waiting to find out who committed the crime in the operating room. The author does an excellent job intertwining the storytelling of operating room perils and parenting challenges. Jack’s ability to focus on his family and true values in the midst of complete turmoil serves as a great reminder to check in on our own priorities.

“I could not put it down”

I highly recommend reading it. It is very well written and keeps you wanting to read more at the end of each chapter. I could not put it down. Suspenseful and heartwarming at the same time. Truly one of t he best books I have read in quite a while. I can’t wait to read the next book he writes.

“Inspirational, accurate, and fascinating”

As its title foreshadows, it deals with a man who is dragged to the bottom of the barrel by demons of his own making, alcohol, but is spiritually and physically resurrected. The path of that resurrection is poignant and touches your soul.

Pals Forever

A Sacred Bond

Dr. Jack Murano dreams of having a happy family.

But how is it possible when they don’t know about his father being in prison for murder? The dire need to reveal the painful past finally comes to him during the frightening malpractice lawsuit filed against Jack Murano by his close friend after a crime was committed in the operating room.

The monster of alcohol, the main reason for Jack’s father being in jail, heavily hangs over both, snatching even his son, Mike.

Dr. Murano suddenly realizes his family’s future, his professional integrity, and personal health are all at stake. He fears that, because of his past, three generations of Murano’s will be damned, and the family he worked to foster the entire adult life, will crumble.

The story is set in sunny Southern California, with an eventful trip to North Carolina. It’s also about how heavily the personal life can affect a surgeon’s performance in the operating room.
The entire plot is woven around the whodunit medical mystery drama.

But the overarching theme of this novel is about the unbreakable bond of father-son blood ties, ties which last forever. Perfect for readers who cherish stories of family, resilience, and second chances.

THE RESURRECTIONS

Man, and His Dog

Dr. Jack Murano, a prominent cardiac surgeon, is approaching his retirement.

After spending thirty years in the operating room and handling many high pressure cases, he can’t make the transition to the next stage of his life. Murano realizes that he has no other interests and doesn’t know what to do besides taking care of his patients. All the years of commitment to the hospital work leave him estranged from his family. Murano’s children don’t come back after college, and his wife finally asks for separation. Only his dog remains faithful and his only companion. Drinking, carefully hidden during his entire professional life, now becomes a factor and Jack’s professional career ends up in disaster. Facing the loss of his beloved dog after a car accident, Dr. Murano is brought to the brink.

Then a miracle happens, and another, and yet another.

The story is about resurrections and how people, and animals, do help each other in dire circumstances.

And about never giving up.

Never.

The Eighteenth Camel

When thinking that his life has finally stabilized, Dr. Jack Murano receives a call from his long-estranged son. Mike is in another part of the country in the ER. He’s bleeding from a cancerous kidney and calls his dad for help. Jack sees this as a lifetime opportunity to reunite with his estranged son, and, at a drop of the hat, flies overnight to be with Mike. Not wanting his son to be treated in an overburdened, overcrowded inner-city hospital, Jack signs him out and the same night they drive to the university hospital in North Carolina. There, Mike undergoes a grueling treatment. As a result, both kidneys must be removed, and he needs a transplant. The doctors can’t find a donor, and finally older Murano offers his kidney. During the course of treatment, Jack Murano finds out about a shocking event from his past.

This story is about the sanctity of the blood ties, and how far Dr. Jack Murano goes to resurrect his family.

The heart of the story

The Murano Family

A family shaped by absence, silence, and good intentions gone sideways. Across generations, the Muranos navigate grief, estrangement, and the quiet work of trying again — even when it’s late, and even when it’s hard.

Redemption and Reconciliation

Healing and forgiveness isn’t instant — it’s a long, uncomfortable process of facing what you’ve avoided, and the quiet, human hope that it’s not too late to make something whole.

Fatherhood and Companionship

Being present is harder than it sounds. Through fractured relationships, surrogate bonds, and moments of real connection, Jack Murano learns what it means to show up — not perfectly, but honestly.

Legacy and Professional Identity

What happens when the career that’s defined you approaches its end? As Jack steps away from the surgical field, he’s forced to reckon with what remains: his name, his choices, and the version of himself he’s spent years avoiding.

Meet the Author

Witold ‘Vito’ Niesluchowski is a retired, accomplished cardiac surgeon. He was born in Poland and now lives in North Carolina.

Upon retiring from medicine in 2012, he traded in his scalpel for a pen (well, actually, a keyboard), writing mostly life-inspired fiction that he has drawn from experiences of over 30 years, day-in and day-out in the inner sanctum of the operating room.

Witold believes that every man deserves an emotional framework for their journey through life. His stories take readers on an honest and riveting journey through the complexities of family, legacy, and spirituality through vivid medical fiction — an enlightening counterbalance to the pragmatic self-help guides that so many men turn to in search of breakthroughs. Inspired by a lifetime of true events, his novels are an engrossing and inspirational exploration of how one leads a life of intention and meaning all the way to one’s parting breath.
