How to keep staying vertical in your 80s

In mens sana corpore sano

A healthy mind in a healthy body

The Romans knew.

Peter Attia calls it the Centenarian Decathlon. I call it long-term planning and persistence.

You have to know where to go and how to get there.

That’s what I want to do in my ninth decade.

*Be at the gym every other day. Since we are traveling often, there are weeks I am there every day to make up for my missing days.

*Start in my gym with weights. The resistance training is a backbone of my workout.

*Finish in the pool.

*Alternate weights with swimming laps.

*Work on balance and stability

*Daily walks in the neighborhood.

*Stretching work. That I can do in my closet.

That’s a general outline. Details differ for each of us.

To know where do we stand and how are we improving, we have to know how to measure our fitness.

That’s in my next blog.
